Unfortunately, I threw away our notes and gave away my Shepherds notes so my overview will be brief.
Our main talking points today...
* Bob's Aha moment (some were wondering what took so long!)
It is only when you begin to travel the road with Christ that you begin to understand not only that there is such a thing as a Moral Law, but also what the Source of this law is. I think we had some healthy discussion here as Melanie predicted we would.
* Materialist view vs. religious view for the existence of our universe.
Materialist view: the universe just happened and we have no explanation as to why
Religious view: something "like a mind" is behind the creation of the universe
I am more comfortable, personally, with the religious view. I referenced Lee Strobel's "Case For The Creator" I loved this book. Jen Mesler felt is was the kind of nerdy book that Jeff would also like. I will be loaning the book to Jeff, but he is not allowed to let Jen read it even if she changes her mind!
* If we believe in a true goodness in God, then we must also feel a sense of terror. If God is the true goodness and we are not following the Moral Law on a daily basis, this gives us "Cause To Be Uneasy" which is the title of Chapter 5.
Our discussion centered around how God could be a great sense of comfort, but also bring on a tremendous sense of responsibility ("terror").
I loved the discussion that 'leading' this week created between Melanie and myself. I would never have dug into this book if were not for this study and, therefore, I am grateful for this group. I hope we all will grow through this process and feel more and more comfortable to share with the group and with our spouses at home.
God bless!

I just posted a fairly lengthy comment and it's not showing up so I will make it a post. If it shows up as a comment later I'll just delete the post.
